You need to know where the files are, on your system, to mod any game correctly. You must tell the mod manager where the mods, and game are, if it doesn't automaticallyfind them. If your windows doesn't show the file extension (.exe), the name, and icon will stll be there, so use the pic as your guide. Notice the Exe is not shown, in the ini file or Mod Manager, but must be selected, when browsing to that path. We all must use Origin, so it's not that.
Unless I've actually doing it wrong & somehow getting it to work this whole time it's as simple as that.Īs to whether or not it's worth it eventually the goal would probably be to make all the mods either work with frosty or convert them to frosty, because in all areas frosty really is the more streamlined and easier to work with tool, especially how easy it ease to pick and choose which mods go where, creating new profiles for different characters, as well as organizing mods by category.Thank you for your posts I have tried all of the above and have had no luck.I am starting to think this problem may be because I am use ORGIN to play the game and for some resion the mod manger cant find the game in ORGIN please let me know if this might be the problem, many thanks Step three: Launch DAI through Frosty from now on
Step two: Download Frosty, get whatever mods you'd like and install them.
Step one: Do the things you normally do to install DAIMods, keep the vanilla patch in a safe spot, etc. My explanation will probably also be complicated but I'll try The only downside is that if you have any DAIMods - you need to make sure you always open up the game/save with Frosty, otherwise if you accidentally open it up without Frosty, that save will never again be able to load the Frosty mods for whatever reason. I was initially as weary as you in terms of getting the two to work together - and I can 100% say I'm a giant buffoon when it comes to these kinds of things - but I managed to get it working it is a LOT easier than the explanations make it out to be. Make sure the new folder is not read only before it finishes launching. It's a folder called 'ModData' or something similar and it's in the game directory. It's best to delete the mods folder created by Frosty before you start the game every time. Other daimod mods work fine through Frosty. If the game doesn't launch through Frosty, check the texture mods first. If using a texture with Frosty, make sure it's Frosty compatible. Textures work best through DAIMM, especially if using the daimod format.
Some other things I've found regarding using both of them through trial and error: Remove the original Patch folder again and rename the merge folder to 'Patch' You can just copy and paste the original you kept or use repair game through Origins. Remove the renamed Patch folder (the original merge folder) To change the mods you have to have the original Patch folder, otherwise DAI Mod Manager won't allow you to do anything. There's quite a few good Frosty compatible mods on Nexus. The Enhanced Inquisitor Sliders mod is worth it imo. different starting armor/pajamas for an elf mage and human rogue) and it's not difficult as such, just annoying. I've changed mods between playthroughs (ie.

And I can easily check or uncheck a hair to be loaded.Īnd I know some daimods can be loaded in Frosty too but I don't have the patience to find out which those are and found it easier to just make both modmanagers to work together. And well worth it since I use the sliders but also the majority of my hair mods got swapped for frosty mods because those just look immensely better.
